That people can be lifted into their better selves
is the secret of transforming leadership.
-- James MacGregor Burns
The Academy of Leadership has been a premier center for the development of research and scholarship in leadership studies since its founding in 1981. Whether you are a student, an educator, a researcher, a leadership development professional, or a leader, you can benefit from understanding what research tells us about leadership and leadership.
The Academy of Leadership houses three research centers: the African American Leadership Center (AALC), the Center for the Advanced Study of Leadership (CASL), and the Transformational Leadership Center (TLC).
While each center has a unique research agenda and focus, the centers share a commitment to creating pioneering scholarship by convening teams of thought-leaders and researchers who often join the Academy as Senior Fellows and Affiliated Faculty. Each center also works to bridge theory and practice while supporting the further development of the field of leadership studies.
