A General Theory of Leadership Project would have features of the Genome Project – a 'hot group' whose task is a careful construction of what is known, an identification of what is not known, an accounting of ideas that are in dispute, and some hard thinking about how it all hangs together. In short, we would be building a leadership DNA.

What are the universal leadership values that transcend time and place? How might an understanding of such values enable today's leaders to see beyond short-term goals in addressing long-term, "higher order" needs? These are among the foundational questions explored by senior scholars at the Center for the Advanced Study of Leadership (CASL). |
