Among its activities, AALC:
- Sponsors public events, such as panel discussions, to examine leadership organization in the field of civil rights or civic activities;
- Engages in research projects to understand approaches to leadership in communities and the influence of that leadership on public policy;
- Provides technical assistance to Black leadership organizations, including research, data, and public presentations;
- Conducts African American leadership training through an assessment of styles and strategies of leadership in the public and civic arenas; and
- Develops books and articles to contribute to the public debate about critical issues in the field of African American leadership.
